In order to be able to supply seeds harvested the previous year \u2013 and thus to store them whilst maintaining their germination capacity \u2013 vacuum packaging emerges as the ideal solution due to its reliability, durability and cost-effectiveness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Combined with the use of an airtight packaging, the TAMIA PACK process thus protects seeds and grains from changes in their external environment as well as from attacks by insects and rodents, reduces energy consumption through storage in a conventional warehouse (no need for ventilation or a cold store) and, of course, guarantees that quality is maintained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tamia Pack was founded in September 2019 to drive the commercial development of this innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With over 30,000 tonnes successfully packaged in France and internationally, Tamia Pack offers vacuum-sealing of seeds and grains in heat-sealed aluminium pouches, ranging from 200 g bags to 1.2-tonne big bags, either as a service provided at the company\u2019s headquarters or directly at customers\u2019 premises using its mobile machine, the Tamia Mobile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pollen flow optimisation – Pollinova<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In hybrid seed production, environmental factors can limit the natural process of pollen transfer from male parent lines to female parent lines. This inevitably reduces ear fertility in the central rows of the recipient plant strips. This results in year-on-year variations in yield.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To minimise this uncertainty and ensure production reliability, ASUR Plant Breeding has invested in research, notably in partnership with INRAE, to develop an innovative technology now championed by POLLINOVA (founded in 2020). The POLLINOVA process enables pollen to be collected from pollinator plants, transported and dispersed onto the female recipient plants. The technology mimics a gentle breeze and controls the flow of pollen. It is now covered by a global patent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pollen supplementation thus represents a new practice helping seed producers to secure their production of hybrid seeds (cereals, maize, etc.).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
